Adams test
From Scoliosis Wiki
This is a simple scoliosis test to verify if someone has structural scoliosis.
The Adam's Forward Bend Test is very simple:
Stand behind the test person. Ask them to bend forward at their hips. Look for any unleveling of the back. If not even, then test is positive.
A positive Adams Test is used to diagnose scoliosis and should be followed up by and x-ray to confirm the magnitude of the curve with a Cobb angle measurement.
The test was first described by William Adams back in 1865. He referred to it as “the stooping position as diagnostic of lateral curvature in the early stage” as a test to diagnose scoliosis. It became later known as the ‘Adams Forward Bending Test’ and it has since been used all over the world in screening for scoliosis.
