Posted on behalf of a patient's mother to protect her privacy.
My daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis in February 2010. The radiology report said she had an S-curve with a 23 degree Cobb angle on the top and 27 degrees on the bottom.
We were devastated for our daughter and what that meant for her future. Her pediatrician wanted us to go to the local children's hospital and said that they would put her in a scoliosis brace right away and explained scoliosis surgery that she might face in the future. Having been through a neck injury and a lot of chiropractic care, I started researching for more recent treatment breakthroughs. Almost immediately I found CLEAR Scoliosis institute. I callled them and got some referrals who were parents like me that had children in the CLEAR Scoliosis Institute program. They all spoke positively about their experience. I talked to our pediatrician who thought it was a gimic but said all we would probably lose was money so we should give it a try rather than wonder. Within days we had our daughter in Pennsylvania with Dr. Clayton Stitzel for an evaluation and a few weeks later we went back for a week of treatment. She had 3 weeks of treatment over 12 months and her curve is now 1 degree in the thoracic spine and 6 degrees in her lumbar spine. Her last scoliosis treatment was about a year ago and she has held the improvements and even continues to improve with her home therapy.
Our daughter has been a competitive swimmer through the whole ordeal and when she was diagnosed she was a B swimmer but now swims at state championship meets, etc and even goes to finals in those meets. She is now free from pain. Her posture is beautiful and I am excited about what her future holds. For many kids this is not the story. I have seen others who went the conventional route with bracing and the grueling Scoliosis surgery and now have the rest of their lives to deal with the spinal issues.
I have no vested interest in the CLEAR Scoliosis Institute, but want to get the word out that it is not a gimic but the hope they offer is real, and we have the xrays to prove it
