yes, in most cases, the young brain is more able to rehabilitate and form new neural connections that can compensate or replace the damaged or defective ones.

However....though SLOWER, an older brain is still capable of incredible healing.

I have found Bob Woodruff's story(journalist hit by bomb in Iraq) very interesting.Even after such a traumatic head injury and the resultant expressive aphasia .....his recovery is a marvel.

Two years later he is still seeing improvements. He is 46 years old!!!

Steven Flanagan (associate prof. of rehab. med. at Mt. Sinai School Of med.....) mentions in articles about Woodruff how the brain is "plastic"..it has the capacity to change OVER TIME. "So after an injury, it adapts by making new connections"

Any age, can benefit, from a scoliosis program that focuses on trying to rehabilitate the CNS.

Hope 404, thanks for bringing that up. Yes, its true that an adult brain has plastic capabilities and can be successfully used in rehabilitation by skilled therapists.

I have been a CLEAR patient for the past year at the Spine COrrection Center of the Rockies and I have seen tremendous success!! My curves use to be 42 Thoracic and 37 Lumbar and now they're down to 26 thoracic and 19 Lumbar!!

This is about a 50% decrease and my last radiographs were taken in June. I just had another set taken today so my curves are likely even smaller now! (fingers crossed!)

My whole life has benefitted from this amazing work, not only do my clothes fit better but i no longer have persistent back aches or headaches and I'm even an inch taller! I will continue with the CLEAR team here in Colorado until my curves stop changing, this treatment is truly amazing!

This is extremely encouraging! Is this girl's case being written up as a study? It would be very, very good to see it published. If you are regularly getting results like this you really should communicate them to the medical community. I'm sure results like this would make them take note!

Now that over a year has passed, can you tell how well this young lady has done? What does continuing treatment look like for her? Have growth spurts had a large impact? My young daughter is also about to start Clear treatment so I'm curious about the process and long term results.

From what I understand the patient did show some further improvement when she came back for her follow up. I am not sure how she has been doing after that.

1 year follow up.
She just turned 10 and she is doing very well still holding at mid 60's considering the original films had her at 100+ I'm pleased she is doing her CLEAR treatment program at home I see her for 1 week about every 90 days. I did have to invent a special neuromuscular retraining cantilever which has served her well causing tremendous muscle recruitment for her postural control she is very strong now.
