    Default Scoliosis Traction Chair

Here is a great video showing how corrected your spine actually is while you're in the STC. This equipment is a definite advantage that CLEAR Scoliosis Treatment has.

Notice how much straighter the spine is held. Awesome stuff provided by Dr Dennis.
Personal thanks to him for letting me share this.

    Default not working?

    Thanks for pointing that out.

You are the second person to say that, although it works for me and a few others.

I'll see if the site admin can fix the problem or find a solution.

If you visit http://www.longtailvideo.com/ website and cannot see a video playing on the first page, you probably have to install or update your flash player.

    I hope that helps...

    Default fascinating

But would that work with an older spine? and what are the limits of Cobb angle?
I've heard about 'wedging' of vertebrae so if one side is a little longer wouldn't that pinch the disc to pull the smaller side up? If the spine does straighten so easily what makes it go back to its curve, muscular imbalance?
Well, it does give me motivation to practice 'self-traction' daily, in a variety of ways. But there's still the question of which muscles to strengthen and how..

now we need a traction chair combined with a torso rotation machine!

    Smile STC and older spines

How individual spines respond to the scoliosis traction/de-rotation chair is based primarily on the flexibilty of the spine especially at the apexes of the curves, younger spines tend to have more flexibilty but there are procedures built in to treatment that are specifically designed to increase the flexibility called mixing. Mixing is like taking taffy and placing it on a taffy machine the taffy before the machine was hard and inflexible after a few minutes of pulling and stretching the taffy's physical properties start to change and it becomes very flexible and then you can mold it into any shape you want. The mix procedures offer the patient the ability to increase curve flexiblity prior to applying traction and derotation. Generally the more you mix the spine the more changes will occur in the chair. Things like degeneration and spinal fusion will prevent very specific areas of the spine from becoming flexible.

The second question regarding the spines rebounding back to a curved position from a straight position involves many thing but I feel the primary is the type I muscle activity that controls muscles supporting the spine under gravity and are programmed from a very young age based on the brains perception of balace under gravitational load. The torso machine works the phasic type II muscles and is a great tool for short term help at stability but unless the postural systems program changes through NMR (neuromuscularreeducation) the spine will want to migrate back to its perceived neutral. NMR breakthroughs are occuring evryday and we are getting closer to figuring out some common neurological patterns in scoliotic spines. The great thing about the chair is one of the only tools available that can passively correct the spinal position to near perfect which opens the door to solving the NMR problem.
    I hope this helps
