The impact of the physical deformity, self esteem related conditions (eating disorders, self mutilation, suicide attempts), and the psychological stress of hopeless shapes the patients life into the disease itself, and has a far greater impact on the patient than just the organic health consequences of the disease.

Scoliosis brace treatment has been attempted without altering the natural course of the condition for almost 500 years and scoliosis surgery, introduced almost 150 years ago, is proving to be worse than letting the condition run it's natural course. The continued failure of these treatment methods are partially rooted in long held false premises about the condition, but the true reason current mainstream scoliosis treatment fails the patient is because it is based on solely treating the spines of kids with scoliosis, not treating the mind, body, and spirit of kids with scoliosis.

Newly developed genetic testing combined with early stage scoliosis intervention that trains the involuntary postural control centers in the brain can and will change the natural course of the condition in the vast majority of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis cases. It will make bracing and surgical intervention obsolete/unnecessary in the future, by replacing placing them with active rehabilitation treatment programs that allow the patient to become the center point of the solution, not just a bystander to the treatment modality.

Unfortunately, new ideas, even good ones, aren't always readily accepted or adopted. The "this is the way we do things around here" status quo is strong within the scoliosis treatment community and bracing/surgery have become sacred cows.

We have the technology and ability to change and improve the scoliosis treatment paradigm and for the first time in the history of mankind, alter the natural course of the condition in a meaningful way that does not create poor long-term outcomes for the patient, however we need to find a message to connects to the hearts and minds of the scoliosis treatment community and parents/patients alike. There is no sense of urgency to find a better way, if most don't even recognize that we desperately need a better way.

Treatment did change, for “Username’s” son. Treatment has not changed, because no one questions the “Methods Used”. Doctors are not questioned they are just blindly followed. “MaggiVictoria” complained about information not given, that was all available on the Internet. The reason “Username” questioned the “Methods Used” ALL need to try the “Tension Test” identify and remove the tension. "Usernames web address keeps getting removed: SPAM If “Username” is so wrong, why not leave it. So everyone can try it him or herself, and see it is wrong. Which is more proof “Username” is right. Again, the information can only be made available; no one can be given the intelligence to use it. I did read the entire site, it has a lot of very usable information. The "Tension" was found in my child we are now stretching the tight tendon.
