  1. Scoliosis Treatment: SpineCor vs Rigid Bracing

I just wanted to highlight your attention to the great discussion 'SpineCor vs Rigid Brace' that has been going on in the forum side with regards to ‘The effect of rigid versus flexible spinal orthosis on the clinical efficacy and acceptance of the patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis‘ study.

There seems to be some controversy when it comes to this paper. Please join in the discussion and share your views about the topic.
  2. Spinal Biomechanics and Thoracic Idiopathic Scoliosis

It is well known that the human spine has coupled motion when it rotates. Now, what do I mean by that?

When the human spine rotates it also bends sideways at the same time, and that phenomenon is called coupled motion. What happens in the normal spine is that, when we bend our lumbar spine to the right it also rotates counter clockwise, causing it to stay in the right position i.e the spinous processes pointing to the concavity of the lumbar spine. Interestingly, the opposite occurs ...
  3. Surgery is no cure for scoliosis.

To follow up on my previous blog post “Scoliosis Surgery – Is it a cure?“, I had to write this after reading this a paper [21] stating the following.

The only way of definitively proving that the natural history of surgical treatment of idiopathic scoliosis is better than ...

Personally, I believe saying that surgery is a cure for scoliosis is equivalent to saying that insulin is a cure for Type 1diabetes. Insulin will merely keep this category of diabetics alive, but does not correct or rid these individuals of their condition. The underlying problem for a Type 1 diabetic is that the cells which produce insulin in their body are dead, hence by administering insulin, you are merely “managing” ...
  5. New Scoliosis Forum @ ‘Fix Scoliosis’

After searching the internet and reading different forums and websites I have come to the conclusion that there may be a need for a new scoliosis forum.

Now, why would I ever think that when there are plenty of scoliosis forums around?

True, but I feel that there is a demand for a forum that would be focused on the non-surgical management and treatment of scoliosis curves, also sharing thoughts and experiences of early intervention of scoliosis. A lot of parents and ...
